How to get customers to call me , new biz ?
I have started a drain cleaning business and i have spent like 3ooo$ on online directories like yellowpages etc. I clean peoples drain pipes in their home like a clogged sink line or a business with a clog like a restaurant. So I need some advice on how to market my service without spending more money. And please dont tell me to put up cards in grocery stores because i might get one call and that would just cover my gas drivin around. I need some real expertise here, some creativity on how to get one call every day atleast. Any ideas
thanks
Have you tried stopping in and talking with restaurant and hotel managers through the area, leaving your card? How about stopping in and talking with the managers and staff of the local home supplies dealers like Home Depot and such, or realtors, giving them a bunch of cards to hand out to their new clients?

What is the nicest way to kick a customer out of a restaurant?
I work in a resturant and there is a man that comes in every week or so and he is always caughing without covering his mouth, I know that doesn't sound too horrible but I've been working here over a year and he's been sick the whole time, one day he coughed up blood into a napkin and left it on the table for me to clean, a week later he got blood all in the bathroom sink, my boss thinks he has tb and wants me to kick him out the next time he comes in, I can't get him to do it because we're very small and it's usually just me and my cook here, what is a nice way to say "I'm sorry but I'm afraid you have qn infectous disease and you really gross me out so I'm gonna have to ask you to leave"?
thanks you guys, so far these are all great answers, it's just such a touchy subject, I don't want to be mean to him because he's very nice, but I really am afraid he could get me sick
Ask him to have a seat at the counter or near the door. Say his loyalty is greatly appreciated, especially in this economy, but it is becoming more and more difficult to explain the situation to the staff and customers. Tell him he could help you counter any complaints and questions with a statement from a physician his condition is non-contagious. Suggest everyone would be more comfortable if you prepared his orders to go until he can visit the doctor. A cautious word without malice may be the kindest conversation he has had in quite some time. Good Luck.
Dreamt of a dolphin grating itself...?
I dreamt of a dolphin sitting up in a sink in a restaurant kitchen and it was holding a grater between it's flippers. He (I thought it was male) was grating something that looked like pale yellow squishy cheese.
It finished grating the cheese but then it started grating it's belly. It was crying and screaming in pain but it kept going because it was doing what it thought was right. It finished grating and then it cut two lines into the top of it's chest and tried to put it's fins in it, and it was still screaming and crying but kept going because it was doing what it thought it had to.
While this was happening I was sitting in a dark room with a woman in a white coat sitting on my right and a man sitting on my left, but I didn't know them. We were watching what was happening on a dirty black and white moniter. We weren't allowed to help it.
I've tried to look this up but nothing covers what I dreamt.
Can anyone shed some light?
Thanks! Mich x
my goodness, that's a frightening dream. i would be scared to go back to bed after waking up from that. i think that it symbolizes something you are doing that is self-destructive to yourself, but you can't stop even though you know it's harmful. maybe an addiction or some form of self-injury.
Are my tips being stolen legally?
(This is a repeat, but I didn't add additional information before it was too late)
I work at a restaurant in which all of the tips are put into a single tip jar, then to a single tip pool at the end of the night, to be distributed bi-monthly to the employees based on the amount of hours worked. Is it legal for my employers to keep 100% of these tips to cover drawer shortages? They also had to pay $200 to fix the sink in the kitchen, which is being paid for with tips. Is this legal either? (I live and work in Arizona) I would appreciate more than a "yes" or "talk to a lawyer" if at all possible, maybe links to the actual laws being broken. Thanks!
ADDITION: They have now begun to charge every employee who touches the register $10, from their checks, if the register is short. I KNOW this is illegal, please help me find proof...
